Hey there, I’m Gemma.  I am a family photographer living in Christchurch with my two wild boys and my amazing, witty man. They are my world and a whole lot more.

I am lover of music, dancing, large bodies of water, nights spent camping, classic cars, and authentic food. I love being on the road, so one day I hope to pack up for the summer in an RV with the family, escape the norms of daily life and go traveling again.

I grew up in Hokitika, a small beach town on the beautiful, rugged West Coast of the South Island. My love for photography began when I was young. I have always been creative and one of my favourite memories was spending hours in my parent’s wardrobe digging through boxes and albums of photographs. I remember mums 70s afro and her flared bottom pants, dads old Holden cars, retro colours, generations of family and me as a blonde curly haired baby. There was something so special to me back then about a photograph.

Then when I was the teenager, I won my first film camera. That got me hooked. I was the girl that carried a camera everywhere, I wanted to document all of the fun, crazy times my friends and I experienced.

I went on and studied photography when I was in my mid twenties, but it wasn’t until I had my first boy that the excitment really grew. I was so smitten by him that I wanted to capture every piece of his beauty and every milestone.

When my second son came into the world I began to share my work and today my passion for photography is stronger than ever.

When you allow your life to unfold in front of me, I document the pure and honest moments, images that you and your children will look back on and get all the feelings. Memories that come with stories to tell, that you will truly cherish forever.
